Here are a list of de jure the states of the world don't politically recognize or are recognised by less than 50 nations.

A nation theoreticly must haveEdit

  • A defined territory, of which at least some must be under the state's control.
  • A permanent resident population.
  • A functioning government of any form.
  • A capacity to enter into relations with other states.
  • A declaration of independence from their former colonial or parent nation.

ExclusionsEdit

  1. The Sovereign Military Order of Malta is a non-state sovereign entity.
  2. Uncontacted peoples, those recently discovered people in the Amazon, or communities who either live in societies that cannot be defined as states or whose statuses as such are not definitively known.
  3. Micronations, weather they be:
    1. Seriose micro-state like: Republic of MinervaPrincipality of Seborga and Republic of Rose Island.
    2. Jokes like: Aerican Empire.
    3. Political stunts like  Glacier Republic and Conch Republic.
    4. Bizzar hyper-parochial egotrips like: Principality of Sealand.
    5. Atempts to rip-off the taxman by local land owners and\or business like: Forewick Holm and  Principality of Hutt River.
    6. Art projects like: Elgaland-Vargaland.
    7. Local hippies not wanting to co-operate with national laws like:  Freetown Christiania.
    8. Bizarr idiocy like: Austenasia
  4. Those who are a uncertain remnant of a current civil war.
  5. Rebel groups that have set up interim nations like: Donetsk People's Republic, Luhansk People's Republic, Kachin Independence Army, Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
  6. Current nationalist, irredentist, revanchist parties and governments in exile that don't have a de jure state.
