United Nations Security Council resolution 660, adopted on 2 August 1990, slammed Iraq's invasion of Kuwait. Yemen called for more peace talks and was alarmed by the collapse of the previous talks in Saudi Arabia. Most Western nations had begun to fear the worst and the Arab League proposed more peace talks in vain.
